The state and county health departments reported one more positive case of hepatitis C in the screening of patients of Tulsa dentist Dr. Scott Harrington.

Harrington was accused of using unsafe and unsanitary practices, which may have put the patients of his two Tulsa-area offices at risk of disease.

To date, over 4,000 people have been tested. In total, state and county health departments report 74 patients have tested positive for hepatitis C, five for hepatitis B, and three for HIV. Health officials continue to investigate where those patients may have contracted the diseases.

June 28, 2013 is the last day the Tulsa Health Department will offer free screenings for patients of Harrington. Those who wish to be tested can do so by appointment, after that date.

The health department says those who tested negative the first time were asked to come in for a follow-up screening six months later. The follow-up screenings will be free for those patients.
