According to police, gunfire was exchanged about 2 a.m. Saturday near 21st Street and Garnett Road.

Officers said they found an unoccupied gold Mercury in the middle of the road, and the car had been fired upon.

Shell casings found at the scene indicated the prior occupants of the car shot back at their attackers, police said.

The window of a nearby Mexican restaurant was also shattered.

Those involved returned to the scene during the investigation but were uncooperative, police said.
