A Broken Arrow woman is in a Tulsa hospital with leg injuries after she jumped from the all-terrain vehicle she was driving before it crashed.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Karla Alexander, 39, was driving a Honda 3-wheeler along Keystone Lake in Pawnee County, near Appalachia Bay.

Alexander rounded a corner and increased the throttle, which caused the front wheel to elevate, the report said. She was unable to steer the ATV and jumped from it, the report said.

The investigating trooper said Alexander smelled of alcohol and was driving the ATV at an unsafe speed.

She was transported by Mercy Regional EMS and is said to be stable.
