Cherokee Nation Fire Dancers Head To Oregon To Help With Wildfires

The Fire Dancers are experts when it comes to wildfires and are known across the country for their skills.

A group of specially trained Oklahoma firefighters is heading to Oregon to help fight wildfires in Northern California.

The Cherokee Fire Dancers left from Tahlequah Tuesday evening.

The Fire Dancers are experts when it comes to wildfires and are known across the country for their skills. To qualify, Cherokee Fire Dancers have to pass a strength test of carrying 45 pounds while walking three miles, within a 45-minute period.

The Fire Dancers will be lending a hand for the next two weeks, working 16-hour days, to get the fire under control.
