The City of Tulsa says Thursday its crews have resumed curbside collection of residential green waste as scheduled, and customers won't be required to us special bags or stickers for a month.

In a meeting on Tuesday, city staff admitted to the trash board that green waste collected from the curb was never delivered to the mulch plant as advertised by the city.

The city was requiring residents to use separate bags and pay a separate fee and even used a separate workforce and fleet of trucks to pick up the green waste. However, staff admitted on Tuesday the material goes to the same place as regular trash.

The city now says service resumed yesterday, advising all residential households to place green waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on their primary collection day.

The city says residents will not be required to put green waste in clear bags or apply green waste stickers to bags or bundles that don't fit inside their carts until Monday, September 15.

Meanwhile, the city says the special operation crews who are picking up large tree debris from the July 23, 2013 storm continue to collect it.

Those crews are working from the outer part of the city inward, using heavy equipment to collect larger branches, limbs and trunks left at the curb.
