One of Mathew B. Brady's biggest fans is delighted Tulsa has named a street for the famed 19th Century photographer.

Keya Morgan, the founder of MathewBrady.com, told News On 6 by phone from California that such honors for Brady are few.

Morgan said, "There's not too many schools or bridges named after him, and that's because he was an artist and historian, and artists and historians don't get the same attention that pop stars get. Everybody knows the name Justin Beiber, but how many people know the name Mathew Brady?"

Morgan said he founded the website in the early 1990s, and has since collected Brady photographs and artifacts, used as reference material for Civil War documentaries, especially ones that focus on Abraham Lincoln, because Brady took the only pictures of Lincoln in the White House.

Morgan said Brady was a prolific photographer of Lincoln and other leading figures, but his work wasn't appreciated in his lifetime as it is now, and that Brady died penniless and alone.

"He thought that his nation and everyone had forsaken him and forgotten him and it definitely makes me very proud and happy that you guys named a street after him in Oklahoma, that's really cool," Morgan said.
