Police are investigating a woman's claim that she shot a man in self-defense in a north Tulsa neighborhood Monday evening.

Sgt. Mike Brown said police first responded to a call of shots fired in the 1600 block of North Atlanta Court around 7:30 p.m., and found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound, lying in the grass.

He was taken to an area hospital. Police had no information about his condition, but said he was not shot in either the torso or the head and his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Brown said police talked to a 29-year-old woman, who said she shot the man in self-defense.

Police say witnesses said the man was threatening her prior to the shooting. They say it all may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the shooter's husband and the victim.

No arrests have been made at this time.
