The Affordable Care website has had its share of problems. But if you get a phone call from someone offering to help you get insurance, don't fall for it.

That's one of a number of scams popping up around Obamacare. The Better Business Bureau says in Oklahoma they get calls about these scams every single day. Just as the healthcare.gov web site rolled out the calls started rolling in.

"It really started at the beginning of October," said Kitt Letcher, President and CEO of the Oklahoma City Better Business Bureau.

Letcher says scams like this usually come out when there is a lot of confusion like there is right now about the Affordable Care Act. She says the targets are usually those on Medicare, disability or who may be looking for insurance, like small business owners. And it usually starts with a phone call.

"Asking them to update information, give them personal information, bank account information saying we need to send you a new insurance card, we're going to do discounts for you on insurance policies," she says.

The Better Business Bureau recommends if you get a phone call like this, hang up and don't call back, and don't give out any personal information. Also don't trust caller ID. Scammers have technology that lets them display any number or organization name on your screen.

"If the government is going to correspond with individuals they're going to do it by mail," says Letcher. "They will not call people individually, they don't email, they don't text."

And while it may not be easy, the best place to get information is the healthcare.gov web site.
