The Coffeyville Police Department credits an alert resident with the arrest of a teen accused of breaking into cars Thursday.

Police said Michael McGinnis, 18, was seen by the resident burglarizing several parked cars in the 200 block of East 7th Street just before noon.

When officers arrived, McGinnis ran but officers chased and arrested him. He was booked into the Montgomery County jail on complaints of vehicle burglary, resisting arrest, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say McGinnis was arrested in July for reportedly breaking into cars in the 100 block of West 3rd Street.

In a news release, the Coffeyville Police Department said it appreciates citizens who look out for their neighbors.
