Miami Man Hit By Car While Walking Down Highway In Ottawa County

A Miami Man is critical condition after being hit by a car while he was walking down a highway in Ottawa County Saturday night.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Highway 69 A, just north of County Road E080.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Justin Lee Barrera was walking northbound in the center of the northbound lane of Highway 69 A, when he was struck by a 1997 Mercury Sable driven by 40-year-old Lynn Ann Adams of Joplin, Missouri.

Barrera was transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin in critical condition, suffering from head and leg injuries.

No one else was injured.

Troopers say Barrera's condition was apparently normal at the time of the crash. They have listed the cause of the collision as "pedestrian action" in the OHP collision report.
