Oklahomans Fight Brain Cancer In 'Head For the Cure' 5K

"Head for the Cure" benefits brain cancer research. The run also celebrates survivors and honors those who lost their battle.

Runners laced up their shoes to fight brain cancer at Tulsa's Mohawk Park on Sunday.

"Head for the Cure" is just like Race for the Cure, except this 5k benefits brain cancer research.

The run also celebrates survivors and honors those who lost their battle.

"Team Stevie" joined together to pay tribute to a woman from Cushing who died from brain cancer earlier this year.

"She was selfless and energetic and loving and just loved life," Ashley Cockerham said. "She always had a smile on her face, and so we really just wanted to honor her memory and celebrate her, and what she brought to us here on Earth."

Head for the Cure has been held for several years all over the country, but this was the first time it has been organized in Tulsa.
