OHP Dive Teams To Recover Sunken Cars In Rogers County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol plans to use its dive team to pull several vehicles from the McClellan-Kerr Navigation Channel east of Tulsa, according to Captain George Brown.

The dive team did some prep work at the site Tuesday and plans to start hauling the cars out starting at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 13. Divers will launch from the 33 Landing located just southeast of the navigation channel in Rogers County.

The 33 Landing area has become known as a site where people meet for illegal activity, as News On 6 anchor and crime reporter Lori Fullbright explained in September of this year.

Marine Enforcement Troopers are using new technology such as side-scan sonar systems to locate the vehicles that are submerged in water that is about 20 feet at its deepest point, Brown said in a news release. Divers will mark the vehicles with water buoys and use wreckers to tow them to the surface.
