School districts across Green Country are keeping an eye on the forecast for Friday morning. A few degrees could mean the difference between a day off and business as usual.
EMSA said Thursday night, from 5:15 to 7:30, it had already handled nine wrecks. That's compared to just two under normal conditions, for all of Wednesday.
The Tulsa Public Schools district covers a lot of ground and conditions can be different at different schools. When weather hits, transportation workers check the roads early and report back to administrators, who make the call.
Parents aren't always happy with the decision, but the district says it's focused on students.
"We have a lot of children that are depending on us for a meal, for breakfast and at the same time, we really have to look toward their safety," said TPS spokesman Chris Payne.
The decision will be made by 5:30 Friday morning.
