The Union High School band will be the second Oklahoma band to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The group is leaving on Sunday and they're making last minute preparations for the trip.

The Union band was supposed to have its big send off show Thursday night, but it was canceled because of the weather. But band leaders say they're not going to let the cancellation rain on their parade.

Union High School is one of 11 bands marching in this year's parade.

The band had to send in a resume and performance DVD to apply for a chance to march down the streets of New York City. They were selected about 18 months ago, and since then, the students have not only been busy learning their routine, but they've been busy fundraising for the trip.

"We're really humbled to even be considered for it, but to be selected for it is really just a huge honor for our band and our school and honestly for our state," said director Matt McCready.

About 450 people are going on the trip, 250 of which are students. They'll load up nine buses on Sunday morning and head to New York City.

It's a lot of the students' first time going to the Big Apple, so the band director said they're going to have four days to explore the city, go to Broadway shows and hit up all the tourist attractions.
