The arctic front chilled the Tulsa area over the weekend and brought with it wind chill values in the teens. But we missed out on the snow that was dumped across other areas of the state.

News On 6 meteorologist Mike Grogan says there could be snowfall south of Tulsa overnight and early Monday, with sleet and a wintry mix possible all over the metro area. That could cause bridges to be slick for the Monday morning commute.

Temps are expected to be below freezing overnight and warm settle above freezing by Monday afternoon.

The City of Tulsa says it is ready for Oklahoma's icy season to come.

Hundreds of city workers are keeping an eye on Tulsa streets and are ready to respond if Old Man Winter gives us more than we can handle in future weeks.

Tulsa has 170 workers available to clear more than 1,700 lane miles of arterial streets.

And there are more than 100 vehicles at the city's disposal, including snow plows, graders and salt spreaders.

And there's a lot of salt to be spread -- about 14,000 tons.

"As a result of the mild winter that we've had in the last few years, we've also accumulated a very significant amount of road salt," Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said.

Tulsa County has its own crew of 100 workers ready to clear another 750 lane miles and more than 200 bridges.
