Oklahoma State Announces Junior College Signees

Oklahoma State football announced the signing of two junior college players, Devante Averette and Tyreek Hill, today. <br />

Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy announced the signing of junior college standouts Tyreek Hill and Devante Averette to National Letters of Intent today. Both players are slated to enroll in January and participate in OSU's spring drills. A look at each player:

Tyreek Hill

Pearson, Ga./Coffee/Garden City CC

A highly-rated junior college prospect known for his speed, strength and explosiveness … Projects as a receiver/athlete at Oklahoma State … Listed time of 4.3 in the 40 yard dash.

Junior College: Attended Garden City CC in Garden City, Kan., where he was coached by Matt Miller … A five-star recruit by Scout.com and a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and 247Sports.com … Had reported offers from Alabama, Florida State, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Nebraska and Arkansas, among numerous other high-level programs … As a sophomore in 2013, Hill made 32 catches for 532 yards with six touchdowns and he carried the ball 101 times for 659 yards and five touchdowns.

High School: Attended Coffee HS in Douglas, Ga., where he was coached by Ken Eldridge … A standout on the track who ran the 200 meters in 20.14 seconds – the second-fastest high school mark of all time -and ran the 100 meters in 10.19 to match the fastest time in the country his senior year ... To put his 200 meter time of 20.14 into perspective, it would have been the fastest time in the nation among collegians in 2013 and would have placed him sixth at the 2012 London Olympics … Won state titles in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the long jump his senior year … The Atlanta Track Club named him the Georgia Athlete of the Year.

Personal: Tyreek Hill was born March 1, 1994.

Devante Averette

Linebacker | 6-0 | 230

Melvindale, Mich./Melvindale/Ellsworth CC

Athletic linebacker prospect who has a listed time of 4.5 in the 40 yard dash.

Junior College: Attended Ellsworth CC in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he was coached by Josh Lattimer … A first-team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association … Three-star prospect by Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports.com … Held a scholarship offer from West Virginia, among others … As a sophomore in 2013, he led Ellsworth with 92 tackles and 29 tackles for a loss and was second on the team four sacks despite playing only seven of the team's 10 games … He also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, blocked a kick and broke up a pass … As a freshman in 2012, Averette was second on the team with 96 tackles, 62 of which were solo and 18 of which were tackles for a loss … Tallied 3.5 sacks (three solo) and one interception en route to earning second-team all-conference honors.

High School: Graduated from Melvindale HS in Melvindale, Mich. … As a senior, he made 63 tackles (47 unassisted), had 12 sacks, six fumble recoveries and tackles for losses tallying 103 yards … Earned all-state, all-conference and was a member of the Detroit Evening News Detroit Area Dream Team .
