For 66 years - Steve's Sundry, Books, and Magazines has been a fixture in Tulsa - selling everything from books and magazines to sandwiches and lawnmowers.

But that chapter in the city's history comes to a close on New Year's Eve Day, and Tulsans are taking a last chance to say goodbye to one of Oklahoma's Own.

"There's a lifetime of memories of Tulsans locked within these four walls," said Joanie Stephenson, owner of Steve's Sundry.

People have purchased many of the books from the shelves and many of the displays and fixtures. They shut the fountain down on the 24th.

Stephenson said it is a lesson for Tulsans and other Mom and Pop stores. With today's shoppers going to the Internet more and more for purchases, local business people need support - where it counts.

"If you love a place, it's not enough just to say that you used to go there and you loved that store," she said. "You need to go in there and support them financially.

"Support your local Mom and Pop," she said. "They need it and Tulsa needs it."
