CATOOSA, Oklahoma - The Rogers County Sheriff's Office found a shooting victim in a car stopped on Interstate 44 Tuesday night.

Deputies say the a man was shot in the lower back during a fight with his father at an Inola home.

Rogers County deputies arrested the victim's father on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill.

According to deputies, Donald Nicewander, 63, got into an argument with his son, Dustin, who lives in the same house.  

They say the elder Nicewander got a .22 caliber handgun from his bedroom and fired three shots at his son, who they say was running away from his father. One bullet hit his son, who drove away from the house in his parents' car.

According to deputies, Dustin Nicewander got as far as 193rd East Avenue on I-44 in Catoosa when he stopped on the side of the highway.

Deputies and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers arrived and EMSA took him to a Tulsa hospital. There is no word on his condition.

According to deputies, Donald Nicewander's wife told them she had taken the gun from her husband at some point before the incident because he had told her he was going to shoot his son. She told deputies Donald confronted her before the shooting happened about the gun and she gave it back to him. 

We don't know Dustin Nicewander's condition, but deputies say they expect him to survive.
