Missing Tulsa 3 Year Old Found Safe

The search for a missing 3-year-old child has ended successfully. A little girl disappeared from her home in the 2000 block of East Haskell Monday morning.

The girl's dad told News On 6 the little girl was asleep with him at about 7:30 a.m. and at some point she got up, unlocked the door and walked out. When he woke up at 9:30 a.m., she was gone.

Parents and neighbors had been looking for the child in the North Tulsa neighborhood and called in police at about 10:15 a.m., and she was found at about 11 a.m.

"Yeah, they're not bad parents, they're good people. I don't think they'll have any problems getting the baby back and you know everything's ok," said Jessie King who was part of the search party.

The little girl was found walking in the street by a woman who took her to a nearby fire station. The child was not wearing any shoes and was cold but otherwise unhurt.

Police say the Department of Human Services will investigate the incident, and the child was in protective custody.

The child's grandfather told News On 6 she believes she was walking to his home.
