Man Sentenced For Lying To Bartlesville Police At Scene Of Fatal Fire

A Bartlesville man accused of lying to police at the scene of a January 4, 2014, house fire that claimed the lives of five people was sentenced Thursday.

John Johnson, 65, pleaded no contest on a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer.

The judge sentenced Johnson to 23 days in jail, which he has already served. He was released from jail after the court hearing.

According to a court affidavit, police said when they interviewed Johnson on January 4th and 6th about the fire. They stated Johnson "provided false information regarding the events surrounding this case," and admitted he had lied to police.

Bartlesville Police Captain Jay Hastings said investigators are still waiting on a report from the ATF on the cause of the fire in the 300 block of North Sunset.
