Oral Roberts University struggled offensively on Saturday afternoon and fell to McNeese State, 73-57, at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Kaylan Mayberry led the Golden Eagles (5-14, 4-5 Southland Conference) with a career-high 23 points in the game.

Mayberry was 9-for-18 from the field, but the rest of the ORU offense was cold, shooting a combined 10-for-35. Christian Key added 11 points.

On the other end of the court was McNeese's Allison Baggett, who exploded for 29 points, including 25 in the second half. Cecilia Okoye added 12 points and 15 rebounds

McNeese (12-8, 5-4 SLC) shot 41.2% as a team and forced ORU into 19 turnovers.

ORU got off to a bad start, conceding the first seven points of the game. But they battled back to take the lead, 11-10, on a Noora Jaervikangas layup six minutes into the game.

But that would be the high watermark for ORU, as McNeese scored on the ensuing possession and never trailed again. The Cowgirls grabbed the game by the horns with an 8-0 run, as Okoye scored to make it 23-15 with 7:10 left in the half. The home team carried a 33-27 lead into the break.

McNeese led by six at the half despite Baggett playing only two minutes because of foul trouble. Talisa Boyd led the home team with nine points at intermission, while Mayberry had 15 to lead all scorers.

The Cowgirls put the game away by opening the second half on a 13-2 run. A Baggett jumper with 13:41 left in the game made the score 46-29.

The largest lead of the game came with 8:34 left, as Baggett drained another three-pointer to make the score 61-40. The lead was double-figures for the remainder of the game.

Mayberry wasn't the only ORU player to record a career high in the loss. Bernadett Balla pulled down a personal-best 12 rebounds and Carolina Lopez registered a career-best two blocks.
