Two Tulsa teens were sent to the hospital Monday after they were hit crossing a busy intersection. Police said the boys tried run across Sheridan just north of 51 Street when a car hit the two.

The car struck one teen head-on, breaking his leg while the other boy was grazed by the car.

Police said it's a dangerous intersection.

Craig Heatherly, with Tulsa Police said, "Kids or adults cross at the intersection at marked crossing zones that give them ample time to get across and stop traffic for that purpose."

Vanessa Manous, the mother of the boy who witnessed the crash can't believe it happened.

"They're good responsible kids. They're very good kids. I just can't believe this happened, this is a danger zone, but I teach my kids to cross down at the midway because it's a little safer, a bigger divide, you understand what I'm saying. This is a tragedy, this is terrible," Manous said.

Both teens are expected to be okay. The driver was cited for having a suspended license.
