Nine different Oklahoma State players collected RBIs as the 18th-ranked Cowboys routed Alcorn State 17-4 in front of 1,603 fans in Tuesday's home opener at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Tanner Krietemeier led the attack with a five-RBI effort, while Donnie Walton, Robie Rojas and Garrett Williams each drove in two runs. Tyler Buffett earned his first-career win in relief as OSU improved to 4-0 on the season.

Four Cowboy freshmen – Dustin Williams, Andrew Rosa, Rojas and Garrett Williams – each collected their first-career hits and RBIs in the contest.

"It was a very good day for us as a club," said OSU head coach Josh Holliday. "We got a lot of guys involved in a positive way and had a great crowd – it was just a beautiful afternoon to open up. The story of the game was the relentless offense up and down the lineup for all nine innings. It was good to see so many guys get out there for the first time and do well.

"We got better today, and that's a real goal everyday, to grow as a team. And I'm really appreciative of the fans coming out – that was an awesome way to get started."

For the third time this season, OSU had to come from behind for the win as the Braves (0-4) picked up an unearned run off Cowboy starter Conor Costello in the first inning.

But the home team quickly erased that deficit in the bottom of the inning compliments of Krietemeier as he followed back-to-back walks to Tim Arakawa and Donnie Walton with a three-run home run over the wall in right field.

OSU's offense continued to roll throughout as the Cowboys added three runs in the third and eighth innings and had four-run rallies in the fifth and seventh.

In the third inning, Dustin Williams tallied an RBI with a triple, his first-career hit. Gage Green then made it 5-1 with a sacrifice fly before Rojas also picked up a triple for the first hit and first RBI of his career.

The fifth inning saw Rosa collect his first-career RBI on a double, with Rojas, Arakawa and Walton also recording RBIs.

Garrett Williams got in on the action in the seventh, stepping to the plate as a pinch hitter and making his first-collegiate hit a memorable one as he blasted a two-run homer to right.

The offensive outburst helped Buffett earn his first win. The freshman right-hander relieved Costello to open the fifth inning and went on to allow just one run on three hits while striking out five in four innings of work.

Five different Cowboys finished with two hits in the contest, with Arakawa, Walton, Zach Fish, Rosa and Rojas reaching that mark.

The two teams close out the midweek series Wednesday at 3 p.m.
