Tulsa Police Officer Clayton Hicks never imagined what would happen on a routine Saturday morning patrol.

Officer Hicks says he was driving near 27th and Harvard when he saw a car on fire.

In Tulsa Police Department dash cam video released Wednesday, you can see Hicks immediately springing into action.

After learning four passengers escaped and one man was still trapped inside the burning car, Hicks ran to the car to pull the man to safety.

Moments after Officer Hicks and other officers on the scene made sure everyone was out of harms way, a power line that officers said was intertwined with a traffic pole came crashing down, sparking a larger fire.

Officers said the crashed happened after the driver hit the curb and slammed into pole.

EMSA said all five passengers were taken to the hospital after the crash.

News On 6 spoke on the phone with the man who was rescued and he says he is still in a lot of pain and is still on pain medicine from the crash.
