The survivor of a Bristow double stabbing remains in critical condition, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Agents continue to investigate the circumstances behind the stabbing that left a woman dead and her brother hospitalized. Vernon Stanbrough was arrested Friday, February 14, 2014, in the death of Betty Diane Evans, 51. Her brother, Robert Evans, is in a Tulsa hospital with stab wounds.

Robert Evans' age is unknown, according to a news bulletin from the OSBI.

Agents say the 62-year-old Stanbrough stabbed the siblings at Betty's home in the 500 block of East Washington Street in Bristow. Stanbrough was serving a suspended sentence for drugs, pornography and assault with a deadly weapon.

He being held without bond in the Creek County Jail after being arrested for first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Agents say they are still investigating what prompted the stabbings. The OSBI's assistance was requested by the Creek County District Attorney's Office.
