Muskogee Fire has contained a grass fire that broke out near Ben Franklin Science Academy. According to James Moore the fire has been contained.

According to Muskogee Schools Spokeswoman Wendy Burton, the school is not in danger but the fire is causing a lot of smoke to drift that direction. Children and teachers had not been allowed outside and the doors and windows of the school were being kept closed.

Burton also said bus riders are currently being picked up and dropped off at home or their bus stop at the normal time. Any parent who wishes to pick up their children may do so at any time in front of the building.

A grass fire also flared up near a Coweta ranch house on 193rd East Avenue just south of the Creek Turnpike.

Strong winds pushed the flames dangerously close to the home but crews were able to get it contained before the fire did any damage.
