Another Tulsan Dies From Flu; 51 Flu Deaths Reported Statewide

The OSDH says the death toll now stands at 51. One of those three deaths occurred in Tulsa County.

Three more Oklahomans have died from influenza in the past week according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

One of those three deaths occurred in Tulsa County.

The OSDH says the death toll for Oklahoma this flu season is now 51. 

The number of flu deaths in Tulsa County now stands at nine, the highest of any county in Oklahoma.

Statewide, hospitalizations due to influenza rose from 1,141 to 1,202 this week. Adair County in eastern Oklahoma saw a jump in hospitalizations from six to 19.

  • Craig County 9 (1 death)
  • Creek County 23 (2 deaths)
  • Delaware County 3
  • Latimer County 6
  • LeFlore County 19 (2 deaths)
  • Mayes County 23 (1 death)
  • McIntosh County 10 (1 death)
  • Muskogee County 45 (2 deaths)
  • Nowata County 2
  • Okfuskee County 6
  • Okmulgee County 21 (1 death)
  • Osage County 9 (1 death)
  • Ottawa County 8
  • Pawnee County 5
  • Pittsburg County 21 (3 deaths)
  • Rogers County 28
  • Sequoyah County 5
  • Tulsa County 234 (9 deaths)
  • Wagoner County 29
  • Washington County 7 (2 deaths)

The OSDH says two children ages four and under have died due to the flu.

There were 12 deaths in the 18-49 age group, 19 deaths in the 50-64 age group and 18 deaths in Oklahomans 65 and older.

The Department of Health began keeping statistics for the 2013-2014 flu season beginning in October 2013.
