What's Going Around: Stomach Flu, Colds, Nose Bleeds

Three more Oklahomans died from the flu in the past week. The state Department of Health said one of those people lived in Tulsa County. The flu has killed 51 people across the state since October.

A different kind of flu is also going around, the stomach flu.

Nurse Practitioner Kim Hicks Jenkins from the Muscogee Creek Nation Department of Health said patients in Okmulgee are getting nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, chills and stomach cramps.

The stomach flu usually lasts a week.

Colds are also still prevalent right now. This can cause runny noses, nasal congestion, sneezing and a cough.

Colds are contagious, so avoid others who are sick and wash your hands for at least 30 seconds.

And many people are calling their doctors due to their kids having bloody noses. Doctors say the air is so dry right now and nosebleeds may occur more often, especially after blowing your nose.

A humidifier may be a good idea at night and a nasal saline several times a day also helps. If symptoms continue you might go see your doctor.
