Creek County EMS, Sand Springs Fire Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Sapulpa police responded to a fatal head-on collision on Highway 97 between 71 and 81 Streets Friday afternoon.
George Jones, driving a white 2003 Toyota Camry, was northbound on Highway 97 when he crossed the center median for an unknown reason, striking a black, 1998 Ford Taurus, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Jarrod Wolfe, 35, from Sand Springs, was the driver of the Ford Taurus. Officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries.
His passengers, 25-year-old Sapulpa resident Mykael Farris and a 10-year-old boy, were both injured and taken to the hospital. Both suffered internal injuries. Farris was trapped in the car for about 10 minutes and had to be freed from the white vehicle, according to OHP.
Jones, 46, from Tulsa was also taken to the hospital for internal injuries.
OHP reports that seat belts were used by all and that air bags deployed in both vehicles. Traffic was diverted for about two hours as crews cleared the scene.
