The upper level trough that brought some light showers and snow showers to the area last night is gone.  The clouds this morning will erode as the wave moves southeast and sunshine will be in the forecast later with slightly above 50.  Warmer air arrives Friday but a stout cold front brings more rain chances and colder air back to the state Saturday.

The upper trough did produce some precipitation in our area late yesterday and early evening, but the amounts remained very light.  Most roadways in Tulsa will be in fine shape.  We continue to see some slick roads across east central OK but almost all of these will improve today with the warmer air.

Southwest winds at the surface and through the mid-level of the atmosphere will promote warmer air moving across the southern plains including the Tulsa metro and eastern OK area Friday.  We'll start in the 30s Friday morning and finish in the mid-60s.  Another upper level trough arrives late Friday night into Saturday morning bringing more rain chances to northern Ok and southern Kansas.  A surface boundary will slide southward bringing north winds in the 15 to 25 mph range and colder air Saturday morning.  The highs could top out in the lower or mid 40s by the morning hours and fall into the upper 30s or lower 40s for the rest of the day.  We have lowered the high Saturday to 41 and this may not be cool enough for the afternoon hours.

Sunday begins another recovering period with afternoon highs in the 50s.  And then we'll see temperatures moving into the mid-70s both Monday and Tuesday before another front arrives either late Tuesday night or Wednesday with another chance of showers-thunder and temps dropping back into the lower 50s.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 47 recorded at 1:45pm.

The normal daily average high is 59 and the low is 37.

The daily records include a high of 87 from both 1974 and 1910.  The record low is 13 from 1943.

You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I'll be discussing the forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News Network affiliates across the state through the morning hours.

Thanks for reading the Thursday Morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a great day!
