Oral Roberts University could not compete with Stephen F. Austin's hot shooting on Thursday night as the Ladyjacks took down ORU, 72-52, at William R. Johnson Coliseum. The loss drops ORU to 9-18, 8-9 Southland Conference.

Despite the loss, ORU remains in sole possession of 8th place in the Southland Conference standings. Houston Baptist, Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State all trail the Golden Eagles, at 7-10.

Alexus Wilson led ORU with 12 points off the bench, while Christian Key chipped in 10. But the Golden Eagles struggled on the offensive end, shooting 36.5 percent and committing 19 turnovers.

SFA (18-11, 12-5 SLC) was led by Porsha Roberts, who poured in 23 points and nine rebounds. Antionette Carter added 14 points and eight boards in a reserve role.

The Ladyjacks shot 41.4 percent, including an 8-for-16 mark from 3-point range.

ORU was overwhelmed by the Ladyjacks from the outset of play. SFA scored the first 12 points of the game, building a dozen-point lead on a Tierany Henderson 3-pointer at the 17:54 mark of the 1st half.

The Golden Eagles stuck close for most of the half but never drew even. SFA took advantage with a 6-0 run to end the half on top, 34-20. ORU shot just 32.1 percent in the opening period and turned the ball over 11 times. Roberts led all scorers with 16 points at intermission.

The Ladyjacks knocked down three-pointers on their first two possessions of the 2nd half. Three-balls from Taylor Ross and Daylyn Harris, their only field goals of the game, gave the home team a 40-20 edge with 19:26 on the clock.

From there it was smooth sailing for the Jacks. Their lead crested at 31 points on three separate occasions, and they were up double-digits the entire 2nd period.

The Golden Eagles have now lost 16 straight road games, including an 0-15 mark this season.

ORU concludes the 2013-14 regular season on Saturday when it faces Northwestern State. Game time is set for 1 p.m. CT in Natchitoches, La.
