Green Country In For A Soaking This Weekend

Widespread rainfall with some embedded thunderstorms is making its way through Northeastern Oklahoma Saturday afternoon and through the night.

At the same time, colder air will bring a possibility of a wintry mix on Sunday. Since soil temperatures have warmed up, it should mostly be a cold rain - and what wintry stuff makes it in will not accumulate, according to News On 6 WARN Team Meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Green Country stands to receive a good bit of rain with 1 to 2 inches common. Some locations should receive more.

"Some thunder can also be expected but this does not appear to pose a threat of severe weather although some small hail may occur," Faurot said in his weather blog.

Sub-freezing temperatures along with light winds and clear skies will start the day Monday but with the winds quickly returning to a southerly direction, temperatures should rebound back into the 50s if not near 60.

Thursday and Friday of next week are looking good.
