It's hard to not clap your hands or tap your feet on Saint Patty's Day, especially when you're listening to young violinists outside Kilkenny's on Cherry Street. Crowds clad in green are expected to head to Cherry Street and the Blue Dome District Monday.

There are several parties going on downtown, expected to draw about 5,000 people. Drivers will see several road closures around the Blue Dome District as Woody's, Arnie's and McNellie's set out to celebrate.

Tulsa resident, Sharon Henry, said, "I mean, I like crowds and I like the fun, but man, it's too much.

Henry was out before noon with friends at McNellie's Pub, trying to avoid the after work rush. McNellie's and Woody's are a couple downtown Saint Patty's destinations that have set up large tents and stages, which will run through 2 a.m.

Those will be blocking traffic in the Blue Dome District all through the night. And while it's an inconvenience for drivers, Saint Patrick's Day is like Christmas for a pub.

McNellie's General Manager, Scott Sipes said, " "It's the biggest day of the year, so we look forward to it. We have full staff, we have a tent outside, the gig rig with 30 taps, we got food going all day."

Kilkinney's Irish Pub on Cherry Street is expecting about 500 people to celebrate at their event. As a result, crews will be closing down 15th Street right in front of Kilkenny's between Quincy and Rockford.

Drivers will be detoured off of 15th Street and must go through the neighborhood to get around.

A few other pubs, White Lion at 71st and Yale and Baker St. at 66th and Memorial, have Saint Patty's Day events going, but we don't expect those to affect traffic at all.

If you have a tad too much to drink and need a ride home, call AAA Tipsy Tow at 1-800-AAA-HELP.
