A 50-year-old woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a house fire in South Tulsa. Firefighters said it started around 3 p.m. near 81st and Harvard.

They saw heavy smoke coming from the front of the house and flames in the back. They found the 59-year-old man in the backyard and an EMSA crew took him to the hospital.

Neighbors said several people tried to rush in to the home to help, but couldn't get in. A little girl in her backyard saw the flames and told her grandmother.

"I saw people on the roof and I saw smoke," Madison Wilkey said. "Scared that a person died in the house and I'm sad for them."

Firefighters believe it to be an accidental electrical fire.
