Gusty Winds, Slight Chance For Thunderstorms East Of Tulsa

There is a slight chance for severe weather across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Thursday evening.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says a dry line will move into eastern Oklahoma Thursday afternoon creating the chance for thunderstorms with hail and damaging winds.

If storms do develop, Crone says they will be east of Tulsa and west of the Arkansas state line.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch until 8 p.m. for Craig, Nowata and Ottawa counties in northeast Oklahoma and Chautauqua and Montgomery counties in southeast Kansas.

The NWS says a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. for all of eastern Oklahoma.

Counties included in the advisory are Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington.

The NWS says south winds with gusts above 40 mph will be possible ahead of the dry line as it moves into eastern Oklahoma.
