Runners proved on Monday they are "Boston Strong" at the 118th Boston Marathon. It was the first marathon since last year's bomb attack that killed three people.

Runners in Tulsa were showing their support for the victims with a tribute run.

The Boston Marathon has become a national symbol of strength and resilience, and in Tulsa many runners wanted to be a part of that show of strength. Hundreds of runners wanted to be a part of Monday's marathon, so they ran three miles as a sign of solidarity.

Last year, just a week after the bombings, the Fleet Feet group hosted a fun run with 2,000 runners, raising $20,000 for bombing victims. This year, they're also raising money by selling Boston Marathon t-shirts.

They've raised more than $6,000.

Tim Dreiling, with Fleet Feet Sports, said, "An event like this is really special because we can just, we're coming together as runners and walkers, and we're supporting the people that were impacted by the events of a year ago."

The run was three miles around the downtown area. Runners said running on the same day of the actual Boston Marathon is emotional and meaningful.
