Authorities Bust Large Drug-Trafficking Ring In Enid; 30 Arrested

Oklahoma authorities broke up a major drug-trafficking ring Thursday morning in Enid, Oklahoma, and arrested 30 people as a result of an 8-month investigation.

According to the Oklahoma Bureau Of Narcotics, OBN agents and police officers from several departments served three search warrants and 34 arrest warrants for suspects accused of trafficking a variety of drugs into Garfield County.

OBN agents and Enid police began investigating a large drug trafficking ring in Enid back in August, 2013. OBN spokesperson Mark Woodward said the group of suspects would import significant quantities of crystal meth or "ICE," heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs into the Enid area to supply local dealers and users.

Woodward said the organization would traffic as much as two pounds of crystal meth and several ounces of heroin into Enid, weekly.

As of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, authorities said 30 suspects were arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail. They face a variety of charges, including conspiracy to traffic controlled substances.

Additional arrests are possible as the investigation continues.

OBN Director Darrell Weaver said it is a vital for his agency to remove these criminal drug elements from communities.

"This warrant sweep is dismantling a significant methamphetamine ring that trafficked substantial amounts of crystal meth into northwest Oklahoma, primarily the Enid area," said Weaver. "This horrible substance ruins lives daily in Oklahoma and is no respecter of persons. It affects the young and the old, and we must keep vigilant in our pursuit of the individuals who are bent on supplying meth to our citizens and making profit on their pain."
