TULSA, Oklahoma - The Tulsa Community College Board of Regents named the school's new president following a special meeting Tuesday morning: Dr. Leigh Goodson.

Dr. Goodson is currently vice president for Research and Institutional Advancement at the Oklahoma State University's Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa.

It is the first time TCC has selected a president from outside the college.

The school had narrowed the search to three candidates and held public forums to introduce the finalists.

The Board of Regents held an executive session to vote on the candidate and her contract before making the announcement public.

Thomas McKeon will retire effective July 1, 2014, having served TCC for 33 years in various administrative roles and for the last decade as the college's president.

Goodson is a member of the Tulsa Public Schools board of education. She has said she would consult with the TCC board about whether she keeps that seat.
