A Collinsville man is in the hospital Tuesday morning after a driver ran over his leg on Highway 75.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say 42-year-old Douglas Pittman's vehicle either broke down or he parked it off Highway 75 and 56th Street North at about 11:30 p.m. Monday. Pittman got out of his car and decided to lie down in the road.

That's when a passing car ran over his leg.

Broken Arrow resident Wade Dorsey, 49, was southbound on the highway when he told troopers he saw a vehicle on the shoulder with its hazard lights activated. Dorsey moved into the inside lane, and that's where Pittman was lying down.

Troopers talked to Dorsey and let him go. They say they don't understand why Pittman decided to lie down in the first place.

He's now recovering in the hospital with an apparent broken leg.
