Owasso Police are asking residents to watch out for a group of men linked to break-ins at several residences throughout the day Friday, June 13th and Saturday morning, June 14th.

The men are described as five young black males, at least two of whom were wearing red shorts and blue or white shirts. They are believed to be driving a white or light-colored, older model sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep Cherokee.

They may also be using a tan, compact four-door sedan, according to Lieutenant Nick Boatman, Owasso Police Department.

"Owasso Police urge residents to be on the lookout for these vehicles and any other suspicious activity in local neighborhoods," Boatman said.

Investigators believe the men broke into homes in the Elm Creek Housing addition near 119th East Avenue and 79th Street North and the New Brunswick Housing addition near 97th Street North and Mingo Road. In both those instances, the men took electronics, firearms and other valuables, police say.

A man answered his door in the Hillside addition near 114th Street North and Mingo Road early Friday morning and said a young black male wearing red shorts and a blue shirt appeared surprised that he'd answered. The man asked if he could borrow some gasoline and was told to leave.

There were four other young black males nearby, and the homeowner called police to report their activity as suspicious.

About two hours later, a woman saw two men matching the same description running out of a neighbor's home carrying electronics and tools, including a large chain saw. The suspects got into the house by kicking in the back door, according to police.

In un-related incidents, police also responded to the Coffee Creek Apartments at 8 p.m. Friday after someone saw three men outside an apartment. One of the men opened a window and started to enter. A neighbor saw the men and started making a lot of noise. The men took off, Boatman said.

At about 4 a.m. Saturday, a resident in the Coventry Gardens Housing addition near 96th Street North and 101st East Avenue heard his garage door open and found a man in his garage. The man ran away.

If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call Owasso Police Dispatch at 918-272-2244. For emergencies call 911.
