Good morning. We are expecting another windy, warm, and humid afternoon with temps nearing 90 degrees. Temperature heat index values in the mid-90s will be likely today along with South winds in the 15 to 30 mph range. The next chance for showers and thunderstorms will arrive Thursday into Friday. A few of the storms may be strong to severe.

The upper air flow continues from the Southwest this morning.  A ridge of high pressure will be the dominant feature across eastern OK and western Arkansas for the next 24 to 36 hours. And strong upper level storm system will move out of the mountain region soon.  Before this happens, a weak upper level disturbance will move from the Mexican plateau region into West Texas Wednesday.  This weak wave could provide a few showers and storms across the western third of the state, but the chances will remain low. A dry line will be located across the high plains of Texas both today and tomorrow and a few isolated thunderstorms could also develop along this feature but would remain across far western OK.

As the main upper level storm system ejects into the Central High Plains Thursday afternoon, a surface boundary located across the central portion of the country will slide southward. This boundary may approach southern Kansas Thursday evening into Friday morning. A round of and the thunderstorms will be possible during this period across Kansas and part of northern OK. A small complex of thunderstorms could develop Thursday night and move southward early Friday morning in two parts of northern Oklahoma.  The NAM appears the outlier with thunderstorms developing during the day Thursday near northern OK, but well keep our pops mentioned for mainly Thursday night into Friday.

The weekend weather pattern may be unsettled. The weather data has flipped several times regarding the synoptic scale features. At this point, the prudent call is to add a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms into the latter half of the weekend forecast. Another storm system may approach the area early next week with increasing storm chances and decreasing temperatures.

In summary, expect another windy and warm day with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 89 recorded at 4:40pm.

The normal daily average high is 88 and the low is 68.

Our daily records include a high of 102 from 1925.  The daily record low is 52 from 1960.
