Man Convicted In Fatal Crash Commits Suicide In Creek County Jail
SAPULPA, Oklahoma - A man convicted last week in the deaths of four Kellyville residents in a Route 66 crash last year committed suicide in jail early Tuesday, according to a Creek County prosecutor.
Earlier this month, a Creek County jury convicted David Ernst, 52, in the deaths of four members of one family in a crash on Highway 66 near the intersection with Highway 33 in August of 2013.
The four victims were Vernon Bowles, 74; Susie Frazier, 74; Vivian Henry, 51, and 9-year-old Alex who were on their way home from a shopping trip.
Assistant District Attorney Mike Loeffler told News On 6 jailers found Ernst's body in a shower area of the jail before 6 a.m. He said Ernst used a piece of cloth to hang himself.
The OSBI was called in to investigate although no foul play is expected. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy.
