3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Reported Near Langston

The United States Geological Survey reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in Payne County, Friday morning.

At 9:46 a.m. Friday, a quake was recorded 4 miles northeast of Langston, 10 miles southwest of Stillwater, at a depth of over three miles.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
