All Clear Given, Tests Negative For White Powder Found In Tulsa Building

An employee at a car rental facility said they opened a letter and a white powdery substance spilled on the floor.

Test came back negative for a suspicious white powder that fell out of an envelope Friday afternoon.

The Tulsa Fire Department was called to investigate after an employee at a gated business complex, located in the 6900 block of North Lakewood Avenue, said they opened a letter and a white powdery substance spilled on the floor. The Owasso Fire Department and the FBI were also on site.

A Hazmat crew was dispatched to the scene and, according to TFD Capt. Stan May, six people that were in the immediate vicinity when the letter was opened were quarantined.

Employees are now being let go after the first and second tests came back negative for everything. Officials said they are going to track the six people quarantined in case they present any symptoms.

Officials said the substance is being sent away for further tests. At this point there is no word on what the substance is.
