TULSA, Oklahoma - The Brookside Neighborhood Association met Monday night to discuss the recent Midtown Tulsa serial sexual assaults, and it was standing room only.

The citizen turnout was so big, organizers moved the meeting to the sanctuary in the Southminster Presbyterian Church.

The search for a serial sexual assault suspect put Tulsa families on alert.

All residents of Brookside were invited to attend - as well as members of the general public concerned about the attacks. People were on the edge of their seats, wanting any piece of information or tip that could protect them if this man forces his way into their home next.

Tulsa police say they're following several leads and are focusing on Brookside - the location of the first and most recent attacks. Police say the suspect is a man of mixed race, 5'6 to 5'10, 120 to 160 pounds, and always wears a hoodie.

The purpose of the meeting was to reinforce neighborhood watch groups to be on the lookout for anything suspicious - especially the sexual assault suspect.

"Our neighborhood has seen an influx in crime, such as home invasions and attacks on women, over the past few weeks," said Brookside Neighborhood Association President Meg Perdue.

"We deserve to feel safe."

Police say two of the assaults happened in Brookside, and now the neighborhood is on alert and taking precautions. It's a message Brookside residents are taking to heart.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett recommended getting to know your neighbors.

"When you go home tonight, knock on your neighbor's door and introduce yourself," he said.

Police are recommending residents, especially single women, keep their doors locked, security systems on and have a plan in place for actions to take if an attacker enters their home. So far the man has victimized single women between the ages of 29 and 79.

The majority of his victims are in their 50s and 60s.
