The YWCA wants Tulsans to get fit! Both Tulsa Centers are offering a free week-long pass to celebrate renovations at their east Tulsa location.

A ribbon cutting took place Monday at the 17th and Memorial YWCA where they say the get-fit week is for everyone. The east Tulsa location has tripled its square footage. The best part is - it's free there and at Midtown, all week.

The ellipticals, biking machines and weights are where it all begins. This East Tulsa haven has become a second home for Yvonne Hunter.

"I love to use all the equipment. I been doing this for years and then I stopped and my body was telling me you got to go back to the gym," said Yvonne Hunter. "So I go back, but this time I made up my mind I am going to stay with the gym."

It's a new and improved YWCA. If cardio or weights isn't your thing, the director of fitness doesn't mind showing you something that will get your heart pumping.

"We also have a fitness studio where all the classes happen," said Katie Gill Miller, director of fitness. "Our yoga, our zumba studio, we also have a great playground it's fenced in, it's huge. The kids can come out and play while you hang out with your friends after a class."

There is certainly something to do for the young and young at heart. The goal is to get the community fit.

"We are very committed to the community," Miller said. "There is not a lot of access to facilities like this in this area, so we love the area and want to be able to provide a great service."

Services that are deeply discounted. Like the swimming lessons in Spanish, and aquatic fitness for seniors. Free child care for members - all things that keeps Yvonne coming back.

"Every day. Five days a week, two and half hours a day," said Tulsa resident Yvonne Hunter.

Anyone who joins as a member this week will avoid a new membership fee. It costs $25 for a single person and $50 dollars a month for a family to join the YWCA.
