The Coffeyville, Kansas Police Department will be moving from downtown to temporary offices at the city's hospital next week.

The reason, according to Police Chief Tony Celeste is a remodel of city hall.

He says the department will close its offices on 102 West 7th Street July 8th and 9th so the department can relocate to the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center across town at 1400 West 4th Street.

Celeste says voters approved the remodel in 2012 and the multi-million dollar renovation project is expected to take 14 months to complete.

The department's temporary offices will be located on the north side of the hospital in what used to be a cafeteria area. Celeste says the public entrance to the police department will be marked.

Celeste says the city owns the hospital building and leases it to the hospital.

He says emergency services and patrol functions of the department will be fully operational during the transition.

Celeste says the city's Municipal Court Clerk's office is relocating to the hospital during the remodel project as well.
