Bartlesville Man Arrested For Attacking Nurse With Wrench

A Bartlesville man is in jail after authorities say he attacked a nurse with a large wrench, yanked out her hair and destroyed hospital equipment at a rehab center.

Alan James Morrison was booked on complaints of kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, threatening serious bodily harm and defacing property.

Police were called to the Adams Park Rehab center at 6006 SE Adams Boulevard on July 19, 2014. They were told Morrison had forced a nurse into a medication room by threatening her with a large wrench, according to court records.

The officer found the nurse crouched between a metal shelf and a large piece of equipment, "visibly upset and crying," an affidavit states.

Police say Morrison's father was a patient at the facility. The 52-year-old man was reportedly upset because staff had removed his father's catheter.

The nurse told the officer that Morrison demanded they fix his father's catheter and they told him they could not do so without doctor's orders.

Morrison grabbed the nurse by the hair, "yanking some of it out of her head," the officer said in his report.

"Mr. Morrison then took out a very large wrench he had brought with him and started breaking medical equipment at the nurse's station."

Police say Morrison took the wrench and held it around the woman's throat, forcing her into the medication room. As she tried to get medical supplies, he reportedly threatened to kill her, according to court records.

The officer said he pulled his weapon on Morrison who at first "blankly stared at me as if I was not there.

"As I got out of view with the window, a wrench hit the door frame and hit the floor."

Morrison was cuffed and taken to jail.
