Multiple law enforcement agencies are in Rogers County searching for a mother of two who has been missing since 1996. A major operation is underway again Tuesday on a property south of Claremore. Searchers have now been looking for Dione Fox for more than 24 hours.

Sheriffs deputies say information they received led them to the property. They believe Fox's remains are possibly in a dry well or a shallow grave.

They've been using cadaver dogs, ATVs, horses and people on foot to search. They're covering up to 50 acres of land.

Some think Fox was the victim of foul play, but there's no proof. Sheriff's deputies say finding her remains could provide that proof.

Police reports show that Fox filed a permanent protective order against her ex-husband Tony Fox before her disappearance. In the report she stated, in part, that her husband said to her, "I'm going to get you in the dark when nobody's around." The order went on to say that he hit her and that the "kids were crying because they heard their dad say he was going to kill mommy."

Records show Tony Fox was later charged with violating the protective order and with assault. He pleaded not guilty.

Dione Fox disappeared a couple of weeks later, and the charges were dropped after she didn't show up for court.

Tony told authorities that Dione told him she was going to her mother's home in Noel, Missouri and that she didn't want to take him to court.

Her car was later found in Noel. She has been missing ever since.

If Fox's remains are found, the next step in this is determining how she died, then getting evidence to prove who was involved.

"We've got the OU archeologists that have been out here," said Captain Jerry Smittle of the Rogers County Sheriff's Office. "We've got resources from Rogers County. The commissioner has been bringing us fuel to keep the generators going. It's been a phenomenal deal. Our reserve deputy program - they were out here all night. We've got guys on horses, so it's just been a fantastic thing."

All of the agencies are prepared to search the property for the next two days.
