Oklahoma State soccer has added French standout Laurene Tresfield to its roster, Cowgirl head coach Colin Carmichael announced Friday.
A native of Roissy-en-Brie, France, Tresfield is a 5-foot-6 defender who can also play in the midfield. She earned two caps as a member of the French Under-17 National Team in 2011 and has played for FC Juvisy Essonne U-19 for the past four years, leading that team to a French championship in 2012 and runner-up finishes in each of the last two years.
“Laurene is a very good player who has gained some valuable experience with the French National Team program, and we’re very excited she’s decided to join the Cowgirl program,” Carmichael said. “She’s a very strong defender who brings a good physical presence to the field. Those qualities should help her make the transition to NCAA soccer smoothly. She’s also a very good possession player and is able to begin attacks with her quality passing.”
Tresfield, who will be a freshman for the Cowgirls, will join an OSU squad that begins preseason practice Aug. 5 and opens the regular season Aug. 22 at Oklahoma.
